Rising Sun Educational Advocacy was created from my families own journey and experience navigating a system that requires persistence and advocacy, and from a desire to support families whose voices deserve to be heard, understood, and echoed.

We help families understand their options, find their voice, and move forward with greater confidence and clarity. 🌞

About Me

For more than 18 years, I have navigated the special education system firsthand as a parent and advocate.

Through my own experiences, I have learned that knowing your child — truly knowing their strengths, challenges, interests, and potential — is one of the most important parts of advocacy. There were times when I heard “no,” faced doubt, or was told that certain goals might not be realistic. I learned to trust my gut, keep asking questions, and stay persistent, even when others could not yet see what I saw.

I believe in setting goals for our children and continuing to look for possibilities, even when the path takes longer or looks different than expected. I also believe that families should not have to do this alone. Finding the right people, building relationships, and creating a community of care around a child can make an incredible difference.

My role is to walk alongside families, help them find their voice, and support them in building the team their child needs. You know your child best. Trust that knowledge. Keep asking questions, keep looking for possibilities, and remember that you don’t have to stand alone.
